2024 – 2025 TJH Course Selection Important Information
On January 17th current 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will get information regarding course selection for the next school year during HomeBase. Students will receive a planning sheet with a list of courses, a handout with a TinyURL to submit applications, and access to how-to guides for SchooLinks.
The window for course selection opens on January 19 through January 31. Students will use SchooLinks to input their course selections and alternate elective choices.
Tays’s counselors will meet individually with each student to review their course choices between February 7– March 1 during the student’s RLA class.
Counselors will host a parent chat for our current 6th and 7th-grade parents. During the chat, counselors will present information about course selection and answer any questions. To register for the course selection chat, please fill out the TinyURL - http://tinyurl.com/TJHPC2024
Counselor Course Selection Parent Chat
Topic: If parents have questions about their students course selections for the 2024 - 2025 school year, they may attend an information session with the counselors. Counselors will provide a short presentation followed by a general Q&A session. Current 8th grade parents will need to attend the Falcon Parent night at OTHS for additional course selection information and Q&A. Information will about this event will be provided soon. Thank you!

TJH Counselors will be unable to schedule individual parent meetings regarding course selection. Next week we will send out grade-level-specific question forms for you to submit questions about course selection.
Additional Course Selection information, including videos, planning sheets, elective guides, and student applications, will be shared with parents on Wednesday, January 17.

National Civics Bee
Calling all junior high students! Katy ISD is excited to partner with The Katy Area Chamber to host this year’s National Civics Bee! The Bee allows your students to share their thoughts, ideas, and voices about our community. It is also a way to increase their knowledge of civics. For more information on the essay topic, competition rules, and prizes, and for students to submit essays, visit:

Key Dates for 2023-24:
- November 13: Essay portal opens
- January 8: Essay portal closes
- April 2: Local Bees take place
Prize opportunities:
Each finalist will receive a certificate. In addition:
First Place: $500 cash prize
Second Place: $250 cash prize
Third Place: $125 cash prize
Clinic News
This is a friendly reminder to please keep students’ home if they are sick. With the upcoming holidays and changing weather, we are seeing more students come to school when they are sick. Please keep in mind that students who exhibit vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever≥ 100, must be excluded from school for 24 hours.
A doctor’s note does no supersede the 24 hour rule.

How Germs Spread
Washing hands can keep you healthy and prevent the spread of respiratory and diarrheal infections. Germs can spread from person to person or from surfaces to people when you:
- Touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Prepare or eat food and drinks with unwashed hands
- Touch surfaces or objects that have germs on them
- Blow your nose, cough, or sneeze into hands and then touch other people’s hands or common objects
ATTN 6th grade parents: Tdap and MCV are required immunizations that are given at 11 years of age.
Please send updated copy of your immunization record to the Campus Nurse.
Please note: The immunization record must come from the medical provider and have the student’s name and date of birth on it.
